PureVPN is one of best VPN providers available at the moment in terms of network coverage and speed. Their platform allows for up to 5 devices connecting at the same time to their network of 450 servers in 101 countries.

At $9.95/month PureVPN costs more than your average VPN provider but when you consider that this gives you access to their huge network of over 450 servers in 101 countries with 5 devices connected simultaneously it's great value for money.

12 month pre-paid is where the real savings can be made, at just $45.95 with 12 months FREE! that works out at just $1.92/month.

Security & Privacy

PureVPN does not store IP addresses, connection information, websites visited or DNS lookups, according to their terms and conditions the only information they store is "connection attempts" used to stop system abuse and to control the number of devices connected via a single account.

We do not log any user activity (sites visited, DNS lookups, emails etc.) We only log access attempts to our servers (for security and troubleshooting). We do not get involved in any form of censorship. We do not give your personal info to any third parties. We do not cooperate with any requests for information unless we are ordered by a court of competent jurisdiction and the vast majority of these requests would not be from a court of competent jurisdiction. We will protect you to the max and our system is setup to automatically do so. There are hundreds of good reasons for being anonymous and we respect them fully.

Support

Unlimited email & chat support is offered 7 days a week.

Windows Application

Pure's Windows application is not as slick as other offerings (see Easy-Hide-IP) but it offers all the basic features you could ask for in a VPN service such as launching on start-up, auto-connect on start-up and fine grain control of security/protocol settings.

Choose Location

Pure's Windows interface allows you to drill down into their network first by country and then by city allowing you to decide exactly where you appear to be coming from. Although functionally it works well because Pure has so many locations it would be nice to have a search box allowing you to find your location more quickly.

Although you are able to break down the servers into specific cities you are not able to choose which specific server / IP you want to use which makes the system a little limited for certain uses.

Choose Purpose

My favourite feature of PureVPN has to be the purpose selection. From here you can tell the application what you want to do such as watching UK TV or downloading via anonymous file sharing and PureVPN will choose the best server based on your purpose and current location.

Split Tunnelling

Pure's split tunnelling feature allows you to choose which applications are directed through the VPN allowing you to protect the data for some applications while allowing other applications to use your direct Internet connection.

To use the feature you have to start the PureVPN application in Administrator Mode and enable the feature in the Split Tunnelling tab then connect to a country of your choice. From there you can launch the application of your choice in split tunnelling mode forcing it to use the VPNs connection instead of your direct internet connection.

This works well for applications like Firefox but it does not seem to work with Internet Explorer 11.

Speed / Performance

Network speed is one of PureVPN's main selling points and it delivers! I've been using Pure for a long time and very rarely have connection issues. When connecting via the PPTP protocol (least secure but fastest) I pretty much max out my 12mb/s internet connection and even when using OpenVPN TCP (slowest but most secure) the speed only drops to around 10mb/s.

Conclusion

PureVPN offers a great service with a huge network of servers located all over the world and although their application is a little clunky at times and doesn’t allow you to choose the exact server you want it works well and overall provides a very smooth experience.
